Abstract

Dam, estuary, and port systems increasingly experience sustainability pressure as dam sediment retention, estuarine instability, and port engineering interventions disrupt downstream morphodynamic recovery. This study evaluates the relationship between sediment supply reduction, morphodynamic recovery debt accumulation, and infrastructure sustainability vulnerability. A quantitative spatial and temporal design was applied to three coded integrated case systems using satellite imagery, bathymetric records, dredging reports, and supporting interviews with 12 technical informants. Data were analyzed through sediment budget assessment, shoreline change detection using geographic information systems, hydrodynamic and morphodynamic modelling, and vulnerability index scoring. The results indicate that sediment discontinuity accelerates recovery debt, intensifies channel siltation and shoreline erosion, and increases maintenance vulnerability. This study offers an integrated assessment framework for resilient civil infrastructure planning in sediment disrupted coastal environments.
