Abstract

The shipping industry faces operational continuity vulnerabilities due to the lack of tacit knowledge of senior seafarers in a multigenerational workforce. Differences in experience, communication, technology adaptation, and personnel rotation can hinder the transfer of knowledge critical to ship safety. This study aims to analyze the effect of maritime tacit knowledge attrition on the vulnerability of operational continuity of shipping organizations. An explanatory quantitative approach was used through a survey of 156 respondents, including ship officers, operational crews, fleet managers, and safety staff. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing, multiple linear regression, and moderation analysis.
